Membership...

Our church is run by its members, not just in the sense that they occasionally volunteer to help with church activities or assist with Sunday services, at NPBC, the members actually run the show!church members
Unlike most traditional churches, there is no hierarchy within the Baptist movement. There is no bishop, no area manager, and no centrally funded pot of money. A Baptist church is actually just a group of like minded people who have come together in God's name with 3 simple aims; to share the message of Jesus' love with others, to give praise and thanks to God and to enjoy the company and friendship of some very nice people.

The members (as a group via formal meetings) are responsible for:

  • selecting and employing a Minister to guide the church
  • electing Elders and Deacons to manage the church
  • ensuring the finances remain healthy
  • maintaining the church building
  • monitoring the health of church activities and organisations
  • encouraging and supporting effective Christian outreach programmes
  • planning effectively for the future of the church

Some might say this is a lot to ask, and becoming a member of the NPBC is certainly not a decision to be taken lightly. But for our 191 members, membership gives a feeling of fulfillment and belonging like no other.

You don't have to be a member of the church to join us on Sundays, or take part in any of our events. You also don't have to be a member in order to give a little of your time or money to the church. Our members have decided to make a formal commitment to the church, but many of our congregation choose just to make their commitment to God and the fellowship of others. And that's fine with us!

If you would like to become a member or would just like to find out more, please feel free to contact us and we will answer any questions you have.
